The Great Migration

7 - Day Safari
SERENGETI - NGORONGORO

The Great Migration is the largest overland migration on Earth. Around two million hoofed animals move together trough the endless plains of the Serengeti towards the Mara River. An annual phenomenon, it's also a migration with a 'tail': predators like lions stalk the travelling herds for prey. This wildlife extravaganza draws visitors from the around the world who are eager to go on safari and see this unique spectacle for themselves.

Day-By-Day Itinerary

The Serengeti National Park is probably the most famous of the protected natural areas in all of East Africa. Here you can encounter all of the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo. The park was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1981 and is estimated to host 1.5 million Gnus, 300 thousand zebras, 150 thousand gazelles, 3000 lions and 1360 elephants.

Day 3    Serengeti (Mara)

Breakfast at the lodge/tented camp and departure towards the Mara River following the endless herds of Gnu and Zebra. Picnic lunch on the way. At sunset arrival at the lodge/tented camp, dinner and overnight stay.
The build-up to a Mara river crossing is tense and unpredictable. Thousands of wildebeest aggregate at a favoured crossing point, teasing themselves (and a few human spectators) for hours, even days. Occasionally they peer over the edge of the riverbank, dithery and indecisive, before withdrawing back into the bush.
