Lake Manyara National Park consists of a strip of land about 50 km long and between 6 and 8 km wide that includes the homonymous lake and extends to the steep slope of the Rift Valley. Since 1981, it is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Particularly well known are the lions, which are in the habit of climbing trees in this area. The abundance of birds makes the lake a true paradise for bird watching, especially for the strong presence of pink flamingos. Ernest Hemingway, who described his safari in this area in the novel Green Hills of Africa, called the Manyara "the most beautiful lake in all of Africa".

Day 4    Ngorongoro

Breakfast at the lodge/tented camp. Today you will journey into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven wonders of Africa, and the only intact caldera existing on the earth! Full day dedicated to the photo safari in the park and picnic lunch; at sunset transfer to the lodge/tented camp, dinner and overnight stay.
The entire area of Ngorongoro was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. The crater is an almost perfectly circular arena, its diameter ranges from 16 to 23 km and the surface is about 265 square kilometres. The concentration of fauna is impressive: it is estimated that the caldera is inhabited by over 25,000 large animals and you can find most of the typical species of the savannah: elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, jackals, hippos, baboons, cheetahs, leopards, lions. The crater is also home to 22 black rhinos, the last survivors of a species that in the rest of Tanzania is on the verge of extinction.

Day 5    Serengeti

The savannah is also populated with up to 1.5 million wildebeests, 300,000 zebras, 150,000 gazelles, 3000 lions and 1360 elephants. The typical scenery of the Serengeti, the open savannah, facilitates animal sightings and for this reason is possible to have unparalleled game drives here.
